[Background]
Wiki link for Idrial of Lothlorien.
[Personality]
Idrial is an elf of Lothlorien and has many of the typical elven traits of this time. Like many other elves of her kind she has a love of and fascination for nature. She feels most at home under forests and woods more than anywhere else in Middle Earth. It is the only place where she can truly feel like herself and it brings back memories of her childhood, running through the trees in her bare feet with the feel of the fallen leaves under her feet.
Idrial serves the Lady of Light, Galadriel and is extremely dedicated when it comes to the tasks the great Lady sets for her. She is also extremely loyal to the Lord and Lady of Lothlorien as well as to all of her kin and will perform any task that they give her to the best of her ability. She follows the laws of her lands strictly and respects the fact that they must be obeyed at all times. She will also go out of her way to make sure that anyone who is not familiar with the Golden Woods and their rules follows them without question. As the Third Age dawns and Sauron grows stronger many of the elves depart Middle Earth in favour of the Undying Lands but not Idrial. She was given the option to leave but she was determined to stay and carry out her duties, even becoming quite stubborn on the matter. This is a trait that she has carried with her throughout her life, her mind is not easily wavered once it is set on something. She cannot leave when there are people still here in Middle Earth that need her help. In this way she is probably quite similar to elves of other breeds as she can be quick to defend herself if she believes strongly in something. However, these are not the only traits that she possesses.
Idrial is very kind and compassionate and does not like to see friends or allies in any distress or pain. As a result of this she always puts her healing powers and knowledge of healing plants and herbs to good use. If she comes across someone that is in danger or in need of help on her travels she will not hesitate in coming to their aid. This is shown clearly in her first encounter with one of her recent companions, Berethor of Gondor. When she first came across him he was being attacked by a party of orcs and she rushed to his aid, killing the orcs and healing Berethor’s wounds. Although she can be impatient when it comes to something she feels strongly about when it comes to her allies and companions she can also be very patient. While Berethor is eager to move forward as quickly as possible she tells him he must be patient and that they must deal with the matter most at hand: healing his wounds, again showing consideration and compassion.
Idrial is an elven warrior among her kind so it goes without saying that she is extremely brave. She had always shown interest in serving the Lady of Light as one of her warriors even from a young age. As a result she was trained in archery and swordplay and is now a master of both. Of course, Idrial does not fight without good reason or provocation but when the need does arise she doesn’t hesitate. She is strong, intelligent, cunning and fast witted when it comes to attacking and having her on your side would be an advantage in any battle situation. On her journey with Berethor, Elegost and others she is an integral member and has proven herself worthy of taking down orcs, wargs, goblins and many more foes.
Even though Idrial is between four and five thousand years old this is considered young for her race. As a result she is not as intelligent as some of her seniors but still impressively so for Human standards. In some ways her youth is shown clearly. For example, although she is quite reserved as all elves are she is optimistic, cheerful and can be quite trusting of people she doesn’t know too well at times. Being young, she also manages to fall in love with her companion Berethor quite quickly. However, she shows her maturity when she decides to let him go, telling him it is Morwen a warrior maiden from Penmark he should love and not her. Although she cares for him she knows that it will never work between them and in this way she shows her maturity despite her age.
[Abilities]
Since Idrial is an elf she will have abilities much greater than humans or most other races for that matter. One of these is the fact that her senses are much more heightened than those of humans. For example she can see and hear a lot further than Men can. As an elf she also will not die of natural causes – the only way she can die is from any life threatening injuries she may sustain in battle.
As mentioned before she was trained how to use a bow and a sword from a young age since it was something she had shown an interest in. As a result she is an expert at using them both to defend herself an others. She can also call upon nature and her surroundings in order to protect herself – such as summoning spirits from water. On arrival to Somarium she will lose this ability to call on nature and summon spirits in this way. He intelligence also helps her when it comes to battles and she plans out the best course of attack within moments. Her knowledge of healing plants and herbs is also quite extensive as also mentioned before and can therefore make healing draughts if the right ingredients are available to her.
[Other important stuff]
On arrival to Somarium she will lose this ability to call on nature and summon spirits. She will however still have a connection with nature and be able to make medicines from plants found around the area. Upon arrival Idrial will most likely be a little defensive and wary of Som but she'll probably get used to it pretty quickly. Annnd there's nothing else that I can think of right now....
[Sample Post]
[First Person]
-If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?
If the opportunity was given to me to return home I would do so without any hesitation in the matter, even if the lands were still torn by war. The woods and cities of this world while beautiful are nothing compared to the Golden Woods of Lothlorien. I miss my kin, the sounds, the feel of nature all around me... [She trails off as if in deep thought with her eyes closed.]
-What where you doing before now?
Before now I was a warrior among my people fighting in the name of the Lady Galadriel alongside my companions. Great darkness and evil have taken over our lands and I was only doing what I could to prevent this. Most of my kin were leaving for the the Undying Lands where they would be safe but not I. No, I will fight to the end.
-What is more important to you: having friends or living on your own? Why?
There are benefits to both, are there not? I enjoy time alone, it gives me more time to be at one with nature although that does not happen very often. But I always find that if I am away from my kin and my duties as a warrior for too long then I miss it greatly.
-If someone provoked or attacked you, what would you do?
[This is a simple one for her. One that she believes doesn't need a lengthy answer.] Then I would defend myself with my sword or arrows.
-Would you consider yourself a hero or a villain? Why?
I would consider myself to be a hero, of course. I fight for light, for purity, for peace in our lands, I would not describe myself as a villain. No, the villains are the orcs, the goblins, the other creatures that live in darkness and think nothing but destructive thoughts.
[Third Person Sample]
This world is so different to the world Idrial hails from and it has taken her a while to come to terms with the fact that she might be here for some time. She misses her kin and her home more than anything else right now but she hides that fact well. It is very unlikely that anyone here suspects what her true feelings are since her emotions have been kept heavily guarded since her arrival. She is glad however that she at least has a few tokens with her to remind her of the place that she has left behind, her sword for one and a necklace around her neck which was a gift from the Lady Galadriel herself.
It is this necklace that she twists around in her fingers now as she stands among the trees which are so different in this place to the ones she is used to. The wind is blowing through her long hair, pushing it back and revealing the pointed ears that she possesses so different to those of the others here. She closes her eyes, imagining she is back home among the trees of the Golden Woods, she would even take traveling through the lands with her companions to fight…but it is not meant to be. Not now and she must accept that.
“The situation could be much more dire, Idrial. You can make it through this and you will return home.”
She speaks in her native tongue and she finds that talking to herself comforts her in a way that very little else will at present. With her eyes still closed she starts to sing one of the songs of her people, the sound drifting through the trees and traveling far. Her voice is pure and perfect without a single note out of place. Her lips curve up into a small smile of contentment as she sings which disappears as soon as the last note leaves her lips. That’s because now she has to open her eyes and take in the unfamiliar area once again. She can’t feel the magic in the air like she can when she’s in Lothlorien, even her own magic doesn’t work in this place. A moment later she takes out her sword which was bound by her side and positions it in front of her. She starts to move, gracefully and smoothly without stepping out of place once as she fights an unseen foe. If she is going to be stuck here for a while she is determined not to forget the skills that she has learnt in her five thousand years on this earth. She will not idle.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?]
I know it will be a bit of a challenge for me to play Idrial in a game like this but that's why I want to bring her here so much! Bringing her into a completely different place with so many different people will be interesting and I really want to see what her reaction will be to certain people in game.
[Which rule is your favorite and why?]
A toss up between no god-modding and no meta gaming!
[Where did you hear about Somarium?]

Yes, I would consider myself well traveled. I have moved far from my homelands in pursuit of evil from the Mines of Moria to the Pelennor fields outside Minas Tirith to this place here. Though there is nothing more beautiful than the Golden Woods which I am proud to call my home. Rivendell comes a close second.
